Losing Teeth is Exciting When You're 7

It’s something we often take for granted as children, and then wish we hadn’t as adults.  Our teeth.  Your smile is truly one of your most important assets.  It’s one of the first things people notice when they meet you.  Did you know that improving your smile, with teeth whitening, straightening, porcelain veneers or other cosmetic dental procedures, can actually have a similar impact as having cosmetic surgery?  It can!  It can actually take 10 years or more off your appearance!

Over time your teeth lose their luster.  While teeth are not naturally white, years adds a deeper yellow tinge.  Other habits such as smoking, drinking coffee, even eating certain foods, adds stains that cannot be removed with regular brushing.  While over the counter teeth whitening products are often quite effective, nothing can replace a good dentist and regular professional dental care.

Finding a Top Dentist in Your Town

This is not something that should be taken lightly.  A good dentist can do wonders for your overall oral health and your appearance, but making a bad choice can cause grief in more ways than one.  While not typical, we have heard stories about dentists drilling for dollars, filling and capping teeth that are perfectly healthy.  Inadequate training when it comes to cosmetic dental procedures can cost you money and actually do more damage to your smile.

Do your due diligence.  One of the first places to search for a good dentist is by personal referral.  Having said that, getting a recommendation from your cousin or your neighbour is not good enough.  With the internet, you can reach beyond your personal friends, relatives and aquaintances to get more recommendations from a broader range of patients.  Online reviews is the new “word of mouth” personal referral system that is highly effective.

In fact, you can find product and professional reviews for most products or services that you are considering purchasing, not just a family or cosmetic dentist.
